Since 1836, community has been at the heart of who we are. We are proud to extend that commitment through the establishment of The Honesdale National Bank Charitable Foundation.
The Honesdale National Bank Foundation was established to further support the Bank’s commitment to contributing to the growth and development of the communities we serve. The Foundation’s mission is to support the sustainability and strengthening of resources and programming that make our communities thrive and remain desirable places to live, work and play.
The mission will be upheld through the provision of funding for public charities, institutions, schools and other not-for-profit organizations throughout our area. Through a focus on health and human services, education, culture and community enhancements, the Foundation intends to exemplify corporate citizenship and continue to create opportunities for all that benefit from our region’s offerings.

The Honesdale National Bank Foundation to Uphold Bank’s Commitment to Community
Honesdale, PA – In continuation of the Bank’s more than 180-year commitment to the local community, The Honesdale National Bank today formally announced the establishment of The Honesdale National Bank Foundation. The announcement coincided with the communication of the Foundation’s first gift – a donation of $250,000 to the Wayne Memorial Hospital Second Century Fund.
The Honesdale National Bank Foundation’s (Foundation) mission is to support the sustainability and strengthening of resources and programming that make our communities thrive and remain desirable places to live, work and play. The mission will be upheld through the provision of funding for public charities, institutions, schools and other not-for-profit organizations throughout our area. Through a focus on health and human services, education, culture and community enhancements, the Foundation intends to exemplify corporate citizenship and continue to create opportunities for all that benefit from our region’s offerings.

In addition to the oversight of the Board of Directors of The Honesdale National Bank, the Foundation’s giving will be steered by its advisory board comprised of Mark Graziadio, community advocate and HNB retiree; Charlie Curtin, VP, Trust Officer, The Honesdale National Bank; and Elizabeth Nagy, VP, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer, The Honesdale National Bank.
The $250,000 contribution to the Wayne Memorial Hospital Second Century Fund is the first disbursement of contributions from the Foundation. $5,000 Donation will Support COVID-19 Rebuilding Initiative
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended its support to the community with a $5,000 donation to The Waverly Community House. The funds will specifically support the non-profit organization’s COVID-19 Rebuilding Initiative to offer the community a safe place to return to when the current pandemic restrictions are lifted.
HNB President & CEO David Raven stated, “HNB is committed to helping our communities’ efforts to return to normal following these difficult times.” He continued, “We understand the changes many community groups will need to make and are glad we are able to provide funding.”
This donation will allow The Waverly Community House to continue to serve the community with our programs in a safe, effective manner through various enhanced, innovative, precautionary measures. Community funding will go towards:
Purchasing hand sanitizing stations for the entire building, an anti-microbial UV lighting system for our childcare programs, infrared thermometers for daily temperature checks, the installation of hand-washing stations, proper signage on sanitary practices, a one-year contract with a professional cleaning service to disinfect the building regularly, building access monitors to control foot traffic in common areas, and the purchasing of outdoor tents and partitions to promote social distancing at future events.
These measures are necessary steps that The Waverly Community House must take in order to develop complete safety capability, alleviate the concerns of our community, and to begin the rebuilding process following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Comm like so many other businesses and organizations had to shut its doors in March and is now trying to reopen safely and securely for our community. This donation takes The Comm one very big step closer to meeting this goal. The Comm is deeply appreciative of the bank’s tangible commitment to its community and to The Comm. Thank you!”
The Waverly Community House is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit community organization that has served the public for 100 years. Located in Waverly, PA, the Comm is home to a wide variety of programs and activities such as: art classes, the Belin Arts Scholarship, the Camp Create Special Needs Theater Camp, Comm Camp, the Comm Kids After School Program, the Comm Kids Sensory Center, the Destination Freedom Underground Railroad Walking Tour, the Small Works Gallery, and many other programs and activities centered on community enrichment, volunteer engagement, and capacity building.
The official mission statement of the Waverly Community House is to "enhance the lives of individuals and families in the region by fostering educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities." Giving back to the region through organizational offerings that benefit community members of all ages, abilities, and livelihoods is the primary goal of the Waverly Community House.

$2,500 of Creamworks Milk Donated to Support Local Families
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended its support to the community with a $2,500 donation to the Wayne County Emergency Food Relief Fund operated by the Wayne County Community Foundation. The funds, donated by HNB, will specifically support the purchase of $2,500 worth of milk from Creamworks Creamery to be distributed on Friday, April 24 at the emergency food banks.
HNB President & CEO David Raven stated, “Founded on the grounds of an agricultural community, The Honesdale National Bank has been a friend to the dairy community for many years.” He continued, “We are glad to be able to not only help feed those in need in our area, but to also support a local dairy while doing so.”

500 Meals Purchased for the Employees at Wayne Memorial Hospital
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended support to the Wayne Memorial Hospital in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. HNB purchased 500 meals to provide for all three shifts of employees at the hospital. The meals were donated to show HNB’s appreciation for the front line workers who are putting themselves at risk to protect our community.The food was purchased from local businesses: Be Kind Bake House, Scarfallotto’s, Market 13, Papa’s Primo Pizza and Arthur Avenue.

Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended its support of Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity with a contribution of $1,000. The funds, donated by HNB, will support their rescheduled bike race fundraiser.
The Spencer Martin Memorial Bike Ride, originally scheduled for May 2, is a fundraising effort to raise money to continue Habitat’s effort to eliminate poverty housing in Wyoming Valley. Spencer Martin was a longtime, devoted volunteer and member of Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors. Please check their Facebook page for event updates.

Contribution of $2,500 to Support The Sensory Program at The F.M. Kirby Center

The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts is a sensory-friendly theater which exists in order to make theatrical experiences accessible to audience members with autism and other disorders that may cause sensitivity to sensory stimuli, and their families. Creating and presenting relaxed performances adds another avenue for the F.M. Kirby Center to welcome a broader audience to the theater and to continue its efforts to be more inclusive.

$12,500 Contribution to The Women's Resource Center
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended its support of the Women’s Resource Center with a contribution of $12,500. The funds, donated by HNB, will support their provision of resources across Susquehanna and Lackawanna counties as well as allow for facility improvements.
HNB President & CEO David Raven stated, “The Women’s Resource Center is a valuable resource for the women and children of Northeastern PA.” He continued, “We aim to help keep these services accessible and plentiful to those in need.”
The Women’s Resource Center is a dynamic force in our community, helping 52,087 women and children in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties rebuild their lives free of violence and fear since beginning operations. Of that number, 42,138 were adult and child victims of domestic violence and 9,949 victims of sexual abuse. Those reaching out for help come from all walks of life, socioeconomic backgrounds, education, ethnicities, and sexual orientation. Services are free and extended to everyone.

$2,500 Contribution to Leadership Lackawanna to Support SIMSOC Program
$10,000 Donation to Support Families Helping Families Program Funding
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation supports the community with a $10,000 contribution to the Clearbrook Foundation. The funds will specifically support the organization’s Families Helping Families Program offerings in the Clarks Summit, Scranton and Tunkhannock communities.
HNB President & CEO David Raven stated, “HNB is dedicated to helping our communities’ efforts in providing an opportunity for overcoming distress and crisis.” He continued, “We understand the challenges that many face. Ensuring access to a support system is something no one should have to go without especially when in a moment of greatest need.” .
The Clear Brook Foundation provides services in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Columbia, Cumberland, and Dauphin counties in Eastern Pennsylvania. The Services are directed toward helping people with drug and alcohol problems and families of people suffering from this disease. The Foundation runs three programs. These programs are all offered free of charge to the public.
The first is called “Families Helping Families” which helps families dealing with addiction problems within the family. The second one is called “Recovery Connect” and provides evaluation and refers individuals seeking treatment to the appropriate levels of care and provider. The third is called the “Hall” which is our location in Scranton, Pa. which offers meeting space for self-help groups
These funds will be used to allow the Clear Brook Foundation to continue to serve the unserved and underserved. It will be used to underwrite a portion of yearly costs of the Families Helping Families Program. The intention for this program is to provide a starting point for a family member seeking help for a loved one in a warm, safe and encouraging environment.

$10,000 Donation to Support Wayne Pike Trails & Waterways Alliance
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank Foundation extended its support to the community with a $10,000 donation to the Wayne Pike Trails & Waterways Alliance. The funds will specifically support the three river access projects along the Lackawaxen River in Honesdale and White Mills, and the grants submitted to the PA Fish & Boat Commission to improve those sites for anglers and paddlers.

The Wayne & Pike Trails & Waterways Alliance (WPTWA) is a group of people who envision an intercounty system of connected land and water trails. They believe that these trails will be truly life-changing for local residents, improving our quality of life, as well as inspiring for visitors and advantageous for our economy. The long-term vision has been called a legacy project, one that transforms our corner of Pennsylvania for generations to come, impacting our health and well-being, our natural assets, and our sense of history and community.
The Alliance is a consortium of four groups with a common goal. The Stourbridge Rail and Trail group, along with the Honesdale River Project and HonesTrails, the Wallenpaupack Trails, and Lock 31 Group.

$1,000 Donation to Support Diane Bottjer Foundation
Honesdale, PA – The Honesdale National Bank made a $1,000 donation to The Diane Bottjer Foundation. The funds, donated by HNB, will support the mentally challenged and drug addicted in need throughout Wayne County.

The Diane Bottjer Foundation is a charitable organization in Hawley, Pennsylvania that supports those who are mentally challenged or struggling with drug addiction by providing access to funds that support basic service needs such as gas cards for individuals to get to appointments, phone cards, clothes for interviews, stamps and more. The organization aims to help this underserved population work with their advocates and social workers to improve their opportunities for the future.
